This week’s new music poll is all about JIN’s new EP Echo.
Fans of music chose the BTS member’s latest solo project as their best new album of the past week in a poll that came out on Billboard on Friday, May 16.
The EP by JIN with seven songs won by a huge margin—a staggering 93% of votes were in favor of it. Voters picked Echo over new albums from a wide range of acts, such as Morgan Wallen, Rihanna, Laufey, Avicii (a compilation album after his death), Lola Young, Sebastián Yatra, and Rico Nasty.
Echo, JIN’s follow-up to his first solo EP, Happy (2024), came out on Friday (May 16). The K-pop star’s new album has the songs “Don’t Say You Love Me,” “Nothing Without Your Love,” “Loser” with YENA, “Rope It,” “With the Clouds,” “Background,” and “To Me, Today.” There is also an official music video for “Don’t Say You Love Me.” It was directed by Yongseok Choi and filmed in different places in Singapore.
In honor of the new album’s release next week, he’ll be performing live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon! in New York City. The show will air on NBC on May 21.
When JIN’s team first talked about Echo, they said it was a “perspective on universal life experiences, capturing everyday emotions with warmth and sincerity.” The record, which is based on lively band sounds, shows off his flexible vocals in a range of moods and styles. It shows a higher level of vocal maturity and personal storytelling that shows how Jin’s art is growing.
Echo is ahead in this week’s poll, but Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem,” Rihanna’s “Friend of Mine,” Laufey’s “Tough Luck,” and other new songs are far behind, each with a very small share of the vote.
