Lawyers have called Drake’s “Not Like Us” lawsuit “dangerous.”

A group of lawyers have said that Drake’s defamation lawsuit against his own record company, UMG, over “Not Like Us” is “dangerous.”

Four experts in the law have told the courts not to side with the Canadian rapper in his current lawsuit against the music giant.

The scholars were very clear that “harms happen when courts treat rap lyrics as confessions or representations of facts.”

In addition, they said that taking rap songs at face value “let racial bias and stereotypes into the courtroom.”

People who work for UMG say that if Drake wins his case against them, it will be a danger to free speech and that hip-hop is full of made-up stories.

The letter used 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Nas, and 2Pac as examples.

The brief directly mentioned 50 Cent’s explanation for why he wrote “High All the Time” even though he stays sober.

Drake and UMG have not replied to the court letter.

UMG recently called Drake a liar for fighting over things Kendrick Lamar said in the song “Not Like Us.”

Recently, Drizzy changed his case against his own record label to include what he says is newer proof that his claims of being slandered are true, citing Kendrick Lamar’s performance at the Super Bowl as an example.

UMG has asked the court to throw out the updated case, which includes the Canadian rapper’s new claims.

There are problems with Drake’s claim that Lamar’s performance at the Super Bowl is proof of defamation. The filing says, “As Drake admits, Lamar’s Super Bowl performance did not include the lyric that Drake or his associates are ‘certified pedophiles,’ which is the alleged ‘Defamatory Material’ that is at the heart of this case.”

It’s clear what Drake is really saying when he says that “the largest audience for a Super Bowl halftime show ever” did not hear Lamar calling Drake and his crew pedophiles. Drake is criticizing the rap artist who beat him for his success, not the content of Lamar’s lyrics.

UMG also said in a statement that Drake is a liar because his own songs made claims about Lamar.

The statement says, “Nowhere in the more than hundred pages of “legal” nonsense that Drake’s lawyers have written do they bother to mention that Drake has written and performed hugely popular songs that make lewd comments about other artists.” Nor do they say that Drake was the one who started this conversation.
