Jay Rock was pleasantly surprised to learn that Kendrick Lamar would be sharing some thoughts for him and the other Black Hippy members on “The Heart Pt. 6” and that he would be releasing a new album.
K. Dot recalls the early days of TDE alongside Jay, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and the individuals who helped them get their start on the GNX track, which samples SWV’s “Use Your Heart.”
Kendrick accepts responsibility for the lack of productivity from the now-defunct Black Hippy, even if he notes that the original goal was to get Jay off and running first.
In an interview with Power 106’s Brown Bag Morning Show on Wednesday, December 11, Jay discussed his thoughts on the album and the song.
Jay remarked, “He gave it straight up, no chaser.” “All of those things are true. In that document, what he said was true. The absurd thing is that I was unaware that he had dropped. Everyone began [tagging] me when I went on Twitter, so I thought, “What is going on?” “The Heart Pt. 6” was then sent.
He went on: “I initially assumed it was AI or something, but after checking, I realized that my friend had actually released an album, so I texted him, ‘You did your things!'” I listened to it all the way through. There are no skips. He repeated his actions. Definitely a shout-out to my brother Kendrick. However, all of his statements in that record are accurate.
“I recall that Black Hippy did not work because of me.”I advanced creatively by coming up with new ideas.Top, do you recall all those meetings were we would plan to go out on the streets, return, and make three records? The final verse features Kendrick rapping.
Earlier this month, Ab-Soul addressed the topic in an Instagram Live as well.
He remarked, “That is my brother in real life, and I am really honored.” “For cuz, I would take a bullet.” Apart from that, I can assure you that I studied him more than he studied me.
As a working recording artist, he was the one who taught me the most. I simply want to be really clear about that. For this garbage, we all actually slept on the floor. [Jay] Rock, [ScHoolboy] Q, Dot, and Soundwave.
Additionally, Soulo proclaimed: “I am the B.O.A.T.The greatest rapper is me. Ask anybody. I do not say it out of conceit; I say it with humility. I actually do this.
